Stuck for somewhere to go with the children and/or grandchildren? Why not head for the Broadway Museum this weekend, where we have plenty to keep them occupied, including a new children’s trail, Let’s Find Out About Broadway, focusing on our rich and varied local history.

It’s been inspiring to see our young visitors enjoying the new trail, discovering fascinating facts as they explore the museum, seeking out answers to the quiz. There are prizes and certificates for every completed trail.

They can also don period costumes and ‘step into the picture’ by posing in front of painted backgrounds. Roles include maids helping out in the yard of the Angel Inn (see image – painting copyright Doug Eyre) and a highwayman lying in wait on a remote country road, the latter inspired by Julia Donaldson’s book, The Highway Rat, available in the museum shop.

You’ll find us at the top of the High Street, close to the Activity Park. We’re open from 10.30am to 4pm, last admission 3.30pm. Come in and say hello. We can’t wait to hear about your favourite parts of the trail.

The admission price for adults is £5, £2 for children (under fives get in free). Family tickets offer excellent value for money at £10. If you sign up to Gift Aid, we give you free admission for the rest of the year.

By the way, there’s still time to vote for us in Family Friendly Museum Award. Just go to the Arts Council’s Kids In Museums site at and press the big yellow blob on the Home page.
