Supporting Our Local Community (Part Two)

This is the second blog post on Supporting Our Local Community. To see the first, on Eating Out in Broadway please go to this link: Supporting Our Local Community (Part One)

As mentioned previously in this blog, The Ashmolean Broadway was set up with the intention of supporting and complimenting the local community. Our own shop provides space for local artists and crafters to display and sell their goods. Currently we are housing:

In the village of Broadway there are a wonderful range of shops. From Fashion to Food and Crafts to Antiques we have it all. I have chosen three of my favourite shops to visit in Broadway to tell you about.

Sew U Knit Crafs is a wonderful little wool and embroidery shop which sits in the Cotswold Court; the shopping arcade in Broadway. They stock a variety of yarns, sewing kits, patterns and books. They even offer cross stitch kits of the Cotswold’s , including beautiful local scenery and historic landmarks.

I think that it is lovely to have such a local place where my own craft ideas are fueled and can come alive. In their own words ‘Sew U Knit Crafts is the home of exciting and quality products. Come inside and let your imagination soar.’

Whenever I walk down Broadway High Street, something always catches my eye and without fail I end up inside this charming shop. The building itself is a beautiful thatched 17th Century Cottage (The same age as our own 17th Century Coaching Inn!). This perfectly complements their large range of interesting and eye catching products on sale. wtw.jpg

I love that every time I go into the shop I can find something new. They rotate the theme of the shop throughout the seasons so there is always a perfect gift for friends of family, whether it be for birthday, Christmas or Easter. I always know that there will be something perfect just waiting for me to buy.

For a touch of class or a retro item, At Home specialises in home and gifts. I can always find something that I love when I visit and the shop calls me back time and time again.

In their own words they provide ‘Vintage Inspired’ and ‘Shabby Chic’ gifts and homeware. They also have a wonderful Garden Range, and I love visiting them at Christmas to see what interesting items are on sale then.

These are just a few example of the large range of places to shop in Broadway. To see a more extensive range I recommend that you visit the shopping page on the Visit Broadway Website.

Now that you know some lovely places to shop and some wonderful places to eat at, why not pop along and enjoy what Broadway has to offer, and whilst you’re at it come and enjoy our beautiful museum and its exhibitions.
