Percy William Gibbs - Teasing the Pekingese

Teasing the Pekingese

Percy William Gibbs

1873 – 1955

Born in London and educated at the Royal Academy Schools, Gibbs settled at East Molesey, near the Thames, the river becoming the background to many of the major works he painted, usually featuring elegant company and lovely young women in gracious interiors. Little is known of his background but one could assume, from the relatively small number of his works to have come to the market, that he was of private means and moved ‘in the right circles’.
