Walk through the 17th century spaces that will take you back in time to when Broadway was a key stopping / staging post for the coaching industry.
Broadway’s inns provided food, rest and accommodation for coach travellers breaking the journey between London and Wales.
Technological advances eventually led to transport revolutions which had a huge effect on Broadway. The era of coach travel and mail – from late 1600 to 1850 comes to life at the museum and underpins the history of our world famous Lygon Arms (the White Hart Inn), the Fish Inn, the Bell Inn and the Angel Inn, all vital stops in Broadway on the original coaching route to London.
Learn about life on the road, what it took to keep the coaches on the road and the highwaymen off, the speeds and discomforts and the pace of change until Brunel brought the railway creating a more comfortable, cheaper and faster mode of travel!
