Coffee Cups workshop with Dave Short

Make a Matching Pair of Decorated Coffee Cups with ” The Great Pottery Throwdown Finalist”  Dave Short

At this two hour workshop you will learn how to use hand-building techniques to make a pair of stoneware coffee cups, each decorated with an embossed design of your choosing.

Pottery Throwdown finalist Dave Short will give you a demonstration of the techniques required and will then be on hand to support you through the designing and making process.

At the end of the session Dave will take your cups away to bisque fire, colour, glaze and gloss fire.

At the end of this process you will be able to pick up your cups from Broadway Museum and Art Gallery.Dave will supply clay, pottery tools and a glazing and firing service. You should bring an apron or wear old clothes. If you have any items which you would like to use for your embossed design (eg items with interesting shapes or patterns, scraps of lace etc) please bring them along to try out.

Potters often talk about “praying to the kiln gods”! Firing pottery has a certain amount of risk. Cracks and other calamities are not common, but do crop up from time to time. This jeopardy is part of the pottery experience.

Tea, Coffee, and a warm mince pie on arrival.

Book early to avoid disappointment – spaces restricted.

Classes delivered in our bright and airy workshop space at Broadway Museum. Class price includes free access to our collections and exhibition.

We recommend you park in our nearby long-stay car parks, Shear House is the closest to us at 4 minutes walk and can be managed through Ringo.
