A new exhibition, curated by our partners at the Ashmolean Museum, has been opened. It is called ‘Dimensions: The Mathematics of Symmetry and Space’ and is the result of a ground-breaking collaboration between the Ashmolean and Oxford University’s world-renowned Mathematical Institute.
Using stunning Islamic ceramics, Renaissance prints and contemporary woodcuts, visitors can embark upon a journey of discovery from ancient cultures into cutting-edge science. The exhibition provides a stimulating and thought-provoking exploration of how one, two and three dimensions are represented in art, culminating in the challenge of conceptualising and visualising further dimensions. There is plenty to ponder here for those with an enquiring mind.
The Dimensions exhibition runs until 19th December and entry is included in the museum admission price of just £5 for adults, £2 for children (family tickets £10). Remember also that you receive free admission for a year if you gift-aid your donation.
