We are all used to the regular carols we hear from the media and every loudspeaker at Christmas. However, there is a rich heritage of unknown local carols and wassails which hardly get a hearing. These songs, both sacred and secular, are a rich storehouse of melody and words.

Gwilym and Carol Davies have spent many years researching and performing local folklore and have built up a reputation as leading experts in the subject. Their presentation will delve into those hidden carols as well as the Gloucestershire customs of wassailing, mumming and New Year. Their presentation will include archive audio and video footage, as well as live performance.
