September 8, 2020 - April 25, 2021
Beauty, Style and Fashion is an exhibition which offers an exquisite window into the influential period of the 20th Century through international artworks overflowing with elegance and humour. This is a selling exhibition with 30% of proceeds going to the benefit of the museum.
The exhibition explores the depiction of beauty, style and fashion using a superb selection of original drawings, paintings, gowns and fashion accessories. It opens a unique window on this influential period using international artworks overflowing with elegance and humour. A 1920s-style evening dress made for Joanna Lumley for a stage role, is just one of the beautiful items on display.
By buying one of these superb fashion items, drawings or paintings, you will be helping our wonderful museum to thrive. And, yes, the Lumley dress is for sale!
We take the safety and wellbeing of our staff, volunteers and visitors very seriously and all appropriate Covid-19 measures – safe distancing, marked flows and sanitising arrangements – will be in place. We ask that all payments are made contactless (no cash) during this time.
The paintings and drawings come from the collection of John Noott, lifelong collector and retired art dealer. The exhibition will run until Wednesday, 19th May 2021.
