We welcomed our local MP, Nigel Huddleston, to the museum last week. Given his role as Minister for Sport, Tourism and Heritage, he has a keen interest in what we’re up to.

He was very pleased we were open for business again and was keen to see what we had to offer. After the COVID-19 formalities (temperature check, contact details etc), Nigel and his constituency assistant, Helen, enjoyed a tour of the exhibitions.

As you can see from the photo, Nigel was particularly taken with the Beauty, Style and Fashion exhibition, including one of our star exhibits, a gorgeous dress made for Joanna Lumley to wear in a stage play.

Reflecting on his time with us, Nigel said:
‘It was a pleasure to visit the Broadway Museum and Art Gallery recently. Not only is the Grade II* listed building beautiful and well maintained but the exhibitions were interesting and many of the exhibits stunning and unique. I must also compliment the staff and volunteers not only for their knowledge and passion of the community museum and its exhibits but also for all the appropriate Covid-19 safety measures they are taking to make the public feel safe.’

The Beauty, Style and Fashion exhibition will continue until May 2021 and, remember, most of the exhibits are for sale. So, if you or any of your friends think Ms Lumley’s dress is worth adding to your collection, come on down and have a look. We’re open until  Saturday 19th December. Always check our website in view of changing guidance during Covid and please share this blog with your friends. We hope to see you all next Year if you cannot make it before Christmas.
